As a flower farmer / floral designer, I am passionate about growing my own flowers and foliage. Our growing season goes from the end of March - the beginning of November.

A lot of our flowers are grown from seed. Time, care and skill are needed to nurture these seeds which result in beautiful natural scented flowers. They have a quality about them that is not present in imported varieties. Their bendy stems, rich / subtle palette, and intoxicating scent all go to creating that exquisite visual.

For Bizzy Lizzies Flowers, the emphasis is very much on grown not flown.  At present most cut flowers that are bought by Irish customers are imported.  They are flown long distances from countries such as the Netherlands and South America.  The carbon footprint is enormous. My mantra, like so many other Irish flower farmers ( happy to say a growing number) is ‘grown not flown’.

By growing our own flowers we are helping to protect the planet but also albeit in a small way supporting  a local economy.

We also offer wedding couples a really unique experience in planning their flowers.

Couples can come to our flower farm where they get the opportunity to walk around, see and smell the beautifully scented flowers and then, usually over a cuppa, we discuss what they envisage for their special day. This part I absolutely love, it makes it personal, and it becomes part of their story.
